Plain coloured skip patterns on Brother

Now we have come to skip patterns on Brother Machine.
When knitting skip patterns what happens is – the machine simply places the yarn under the needles that are in B position.
This is what is called floats.  As you can see the tension changes radically compared to knitting stockinette using the samme tension, stitch and rows.

Tuck and skip patterns in Designaknit

When you want to knit Tuck and Skip patterns on Brother machine, the patterns from Stitch World are already in the machine’s memory. Therefore, you don´t need to download the stitch patterns from Designaknit.

On the other hand you have to, when you knit on Silverreed. Here you have the patterns in Stitch Designer, located in the Silverreed, Stitch World and PB5 subfolders.

Here it can be hard to see which are Tuck and Skip patterns because all patterns are categorized with F – for Fairisle.

In this week’s post you get an explanation of how to find out which patterns are Tuck or Skip and how to make them ready to knit using Designaknit.

Tuck knitting in one colour on Brother

Now, we are going to perform Tuck knitting in one colour.
Tuck knitting is a pattern technique which creates a type of structure.
The patterns are most interesting from the wrong side.
Notice that the tension changes a lot in both width and height
compared to stockinette using the same tension.

Baby cardigan w/lace pattern, pants and bonnet

Within just 3 days my family became 2 new little girls richer.
Little Stina and Little Anna – Anna has been named after my old mother – almost 86 years old. You can imagine that she is very proud and now great grandmother of 8 beautiful kids from 0 to 10 years.
This inspired me to make a pattern for a baby set consisting of cardigan, pants and bonnet.
For both the cardigan and the pants there is access to a file in Designaknit 8.
How to knit lace patterns on Brother, can be found in the Brother category.
If you knit on Silverreed and you do not have a lace carriage, you can knit the entire set in stockiknet stitch as the tension is very close to the lace tension.

Neck edging in Fair Isle

This week I will show you, have to place a Fair Isle pattern on a garment in Original pattern drafting and how to knit it following the instructions from DesignaKnit interactive knitting, so that the pattern fits around the neckline and that it is identical on both shoulders.

Lace carriage on Brother knitting machine

This week you can learn how to knit lace patterns using the lace carriage on the Brother knitting machine.
There are 2 types – normal lace patterns and fine lace patterns.
When knitting normal lace patterns, the carriage moves the stitch to the neighboring needle in the direction of the lace carriage,
but when knitting fine lace patterns the stitch is only partially moved. The stitch is moved, but remains at the same time on the original needle.

Stitch designer – sample knit

In this weeks video I will show you how to do a knitting sample via Designaknit 8 – first on Silverreed Machine and then on Brother electronic Machine.
In the DesignaKnit programme you will find a big archive of different types of patterns – ready for you to use.

Picot edge in two ways

In this weeks video I am showing you two ways of knitting a picot edge. For the one method I use the transfer tool and for the other method I use the lace carriage that came with my Brother knitting machine. I know that you people with Silverreed don’t have this second possibility unless you own the Lace carriage.
I use the picot edge when I want my knitting to have a feminine look – especially when knitting for babies.

Easy top with ladder stitches and ribbing

This week comes a pattern for an easy top. The top is knitted crosswise and with ladder stitches. The edge is 2/2 tight ribbing – but if you do not master the ribber yet, it can easily be replaced by fake rib or a double edge.
The yarn is SARI – a cotton / linen / acrylic quality from YEOMAN YARNS  – Yardage: 700 meters per 100 grams.
The yarn is available in many delicious colors and is incredibly delicious to wear.
